- Award given in recognition of application of Siemens drive technology
- Results create opportunities for web printers formerly for sheet-fed printers
Goss was one of only five companies to be given a 2012 Siemens Customer Excellence Award, for using drive technology to automate its web presses.
The award was given in recognition of its application of Siemens drive technology, including the Simatic S7, Simotion and Sinamics control platforms, to deliver advanced automation and product performance in web presses.
The 2012 Siemens Customer Excellence Award honor OEMs or users that have made their businesses succeed through the use of Siemens technology. In addition to honoring OEMs and users, the award also recognizes the integrators and partners that have helped enable each winner to achieve their goals.
Goss International used Siemens motion control and automation to realize repeatable and scalable solutions for web presses and finishing equipment.

Other award winners included Conoco Phillips, Fori Automation, Lockheed Martin and GT Advanced Technologies.
Jeff Upchurch, senior vice president of research and development at Goss International, said: ‘We are especially delighted to have been recognized for our achievements in automation, as they are part of our long-term mission to help our customers improve productivity and short-run agility while reducing waste and maintenance requirements.
‘We are streamlining press and finishing system performance, including job changeover processes, with a comprehensive approach aimed at automating, simplifying or even eliminating steps.
‘Results can create new market opportunities for web printers allowing them to compete at run lengths that were formerly in the domain of sheet-fed printers.’
Raj Batra, president of Siemens industry automation division, said: ‘Our Customer Excellence Awards illustrate the power of partnership, specifically highlighting best practice sharing and providing inspiration to other users in the Siemens automation user community.
‘Each of this year's winners has clearly demonstrated their leadership in driving innovation, collaboratively overcoming barriers and delivering success.’
