About Package Print Worldwide
The design and printing of flexible packaging, cartons, pouches, sachets, blister packs, wrappers, sleeves, bags and sacks are amongst some of the fastest growing and dynamic sectors of the printing industry. Innovative, creative, technically demanding and environmentally aware, package printing is very different to most others printing sectors − and pretty much a global business.
Both sheet- and web-fed presses are used; wide and narrow-web production is undertaken; film, paper, cartonboard, foil and laminate substrates are printed; flexo, offset, gravure, and foiling predominate; digital printing is fast evolving; pre-press, origination and workflow can be complex; and brand owners and consumers are often extremely demanding. Little wonder that package printing professionals are in a unique printing world of their own.
It was against this background that the Tarsus Group started planning two years ago for the launch of a dedicated Package Print Worldwide (PPW) website and e-magazine, and for bringing together some of the most knowledgeable and experienced printing and packaging writers and editors. The aim: to provide a specialized information, news and support resource for dedicated package printing professionals worldwide.
Today, that resource is now live, with an editorial team that can jointly offer over 100 years of expertise in writing about printing, packaging, labels, brand protection, environmental and sustainability issues, and new smart packaging solutions. A team that is probably unsurpassable in trade press publishing.
Editor of PPW is Nick Coombes who has been writing news and features for many of the leading international printing machinery manufacturers and industry magazines for over 30 years, including working as consultant editor of Folding Carton magazine.
Group managing editor is Andy Thomas-Emans, whose editorial background includes British Printer and Packaging News magazines, Package Print and Design and Labels & Labeling. Technical consultant writer is Barry Hunt, again with experience on British Printer, Package Print & Design and Labels & Labeling magazines.
International publishing director, Mike Fairley, was the original founder and publisher of Labels & Labeling, Product & Image Security and Package Print & Design magazines before his Cowise Publishing Group was acquired by Tarsus, as well as being a contributing author to the Encyclopedia of Packaging Technology, contributor to the Paper & Paperboard Packaging textbook, and author of the Encyclopedia of Labels and Labeling Technology.
International coverage is provided by North American Contributor: Danielle Jerschefske; Latin American Contributor: James Quirk and Asian Contributor: Kevin Liu.
We would welcome feedback on our coverage of the package printing industry and how you would like to see us develop. It is a magazine for package printing professionals and your input for the future is important. We look forward to hearing from you.
